Laredo Housing Authority est\u00e1 gobernada por una Junta de Comisionados de cinco miembros, uno de los cuales es un residente de la Autoridad de Vivienda. El Alcalde de la Ciudad de Laredo, Texas, nombra a todos los miembros del consejo. La Junta de Comisionados tiene la responsabilidad fiduciaria, as\u00ed como la responsabilidad de establecer y supervisar la pol\u00edtica de la agencia. La Junta de Comisionados tambi\u00e9n contrata al Director Ejecutivo, que act\u00faa como Director Ejecutivo de la agencia. El Director Ejecutivo supervisa las operaciones cotidianas de la Autoridad de Vivienda y aplica las pol\u00edticas y programas establecidos por la Junta.<\/p>\n

El Dr. Sergio D. Garza ha estado en la profesi\u00f3n docente por m\u00e1s de 31 a\u00f1os. El Dr. Garza recibi\u00f3 una Licenciatura en Artes y Ciencias en el \u00e1rea de Educaci\u00f3n Secundaria y su Maestr\u00eda en Educaci\u00f3n Primaria. Tambi\u00e9n es Doctor en Educaci\u00f3n Biling\u00fce de Texas A & M University en Kingsville. <\/span><\/p>\n

Su extensa educaci\u00f3n le ha brindado la oportunidad de ense\u00f1ar a los estudiantes tan j\u00f3venes como el jard\u00edn de infantes hasta el nivel de Maestr\u00eda. Actualmente, trabaja en el Departamento de Curr\u00edculo y Pedagog\u00eda de TAMIU, donde participa en varias iniciativas relacionadas con el aprendizaje de servicios. Estas iniciativas incluyen el I.N.E.A. Programa “Plazas Comunitarias” en conjunto con el Consulado Mexicano, Refugio de Desamparados Bethany en el programa de tutor\u00eda “Luz de Esperanza”, los Clubes de Ni\u00f1os y Ni\u00f1as de Laredo y Comunidades en Escuelas (CIS) para ayudar con la tutor\u00eda en los distritos escolares p\u00fablicos De LISD, UISD y ZCISD. Recientemente ha ayudado en un programa de tutor\u00eda de TAMIU con estudiantes de estudios en el extranjero de universidades mexicanas. <\/span><\/p>\n

El Dr. Garza es un firme creyente en la justicia social y est\u00e1 comprometido a ayudar a las personas a ayudarse a s\u00ed mismas. \u00c9l est\u00e1 muy involucrado en el servicio con la comunidad y el condado. \u00c9l ha servido como enlace del decano para las iniciativas de la primera infancia: Proyecto TEEM y AVANCE. Actualmente se desempe\u00f1a como Presidente de PNAC del Centro de Comportamiento de la Regi\u00f3n Fronteriza y es el Presidente de una colaboraci\u00f3n de 17 condados – El dinero sigue al consumidor. Recientemente, el alcalde Pete Saenz nombr\u00f3 al Dr. Garza a la Autoridad de Vivienda de Laredo, donde se desempe\u00f1a como Vicepresidente de la organizaci\u00f3n. <\/span><\/p>\n

Sus intereses de investigaci\u00f3n est\u00e1n en las \u00e1reas de cambio de c\u00f3digo, adquisici\u00f3n de vocabulario, alfabetizaci\u00f3n y matem\u00e1ticas. El Dr. Garza fue premiado como Maestro del A\u00f1o en el Plan de Estudios y Pedagog\u00eda 2016, as\u00ed como como Maestro del A\u00f1o en el Colegio de Educaci\u00f3n 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n
